You are a crew member on a race team. The race is over. The pit has been broken down and the car and the rest of the circus is loaded in the trailer. Further, the truck and trailer have now left the track. It's still in the semi final rounds of racing and you are not ready to leave. What do you do ??
You go look at everyone else's cars !!! And that is just what I did at the close of the GoodGuys Fuel and Gas Finals on November 5. My work was done…so I went for a walk in the pits.
Dana Winters had this funny car out on display at the event and as he was in the process of packing up his booth, a group of racers and photog's got to check out this historic Goeske Plymouth Dealers sponsored funny car.
Fred Goeske operates Design Deluxe Mfg., specializing in the manufacturing of custom wheel adapters, repairing aluminum wheels including modifications such as bolt patterns, center bores and chrome plating. During the 60's and 70's, Fearless Fred Goeske toured some truly unique drag racing creations. He was the 1969 F/C National Record Holder with his famous Fred Goeske Funny Car sponsored by the Plymouth Dealers Association of Southern California. In the 60's and 70s, Fred was a match car racer and campaigned with the Coca-Cola Cavalcade of Funny Cars, putting on trend setting shows for the race fans.
I jumped at the offer to sit in this car and as fate would have it, photographer James Drew was there to capture the moment !
