Heroes and friends.
My Dad was in the construction business and we moved, it seemed like all the time. I averaged six schools a school year before I got to high school. That being a given, one can see I didn't stay in one place to really get to have friends. When I got a true friend I held on to them for dear life. Last night I lost such a friend, a friend I called "My Hero". Mike Aiello was the most positive and up-beat person you could ever meet. With all his problems, and they were many, he never seemed to lose that sparkling sense of humor most people will never possess. I met Mike at the race track, where else would he be, and struck up a mutual regard for racing, specifically nostalgia funny cars, but drag racing in general. If I hadn't heard from him in a couple of weeks I'd call and we'd sit and chat about nothing else but racing and the people involved.
I've lost a very good friend and even though you may never have had the opportunity to meet Mike, so have you.
Rest in peace my friend, and always know we love you……
