Ask the East Side Gang 10-20-06 I've had several questions this week asking, did you find your problem with the engine?
Back to the question, we blackened the crank on a 6.35 lap. After the mag was dissected it was found to have several problems. One of which was the upper bearing had come apart - pushing the entire top of the piece upward and out of the unit. With that, the points were forced open to some .090 in gap. Not good…. The motor began to miss and do those silly things they do. We believe that may have caused the crank to flex, creating the problem. Remember it ran a 6.35/220 MPH and was down 10 to 12 MPH at half track, while the 60 foot was a 1.05. The new motor is in and we are pretty much ready to go, so if you have time stop by and say hello ! This last race could be the party of the century. I vaguely remember the last race at Orange County International Raceway - that was a good one…………….. Bugsy |
